ABOUT THE SHOW
Quilters showcases a dynamic and versatile 7-women ensemble of actor-singers who step into a wide variety of roles, working in tight a cappella harmonies and storytelling. The musical blends a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic capturing the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge, and the abiding rewards of frontier life in the 19th-century American West.
INITIAL AUDITIONS (by appointment):

*Must be at least 18 and graduated from high school. This is a non-union show. There is a $100 stipend
CALLBACKS (by invitation):
Tuesday, December 8th – 6:30-10:00
Thursday, December 10th (TBD, if needed)
REHEARSALS/PERFORMANCES
Rehearsals will begin Monday, December 14th, and may be held weekday evenings & weekend days. Final rehearsal schedule will be determined based on cast availability. The cast will not be called 7 days a week. Performances are Friday–Sunday, February 19th - March 7th.
SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
Auditions are scheduled in 1-hour blocks. Please plan to remain available for the full duration of your scheduled hour. While you may not be needed for the entire time, you could be asked to stay for any portion of it. We will release you as soon as we have seen everything we need from you. WHAT TO PREPARE & BRING

Please prepare 32 bars of a traditional folk song, Americana, or musical theatre piece that fits the historical/pioneer tone of the show. Bring sheet music in your key; an accompanist will be provided (No a cappella singing please).

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Total Cast Size: 7 Women (Ensemble-driven piece)

Sarah: The mother/matriarch figure. Strong, resilient, the emotional anchor of the frontier family.

The Daughters (6 Roles): Ranging from young girlhood to adulthood. These actors portray various aspects of frontier life—girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, weathering storms, illness, loss and joy.

Note: All roles require strong, versatile actors with wonderful ensemble singing voices, excellent storytelling skills, and the ability to handle rich dramatic and comedic material.
