Square Roots: Theatre Education for Kids

No Square Theatre periodically provides reasonably-priced theatre camps and classes for adults and children, typically at our theatre in Legion Hall, Laguna Beach, CA. Today, youth theatre is more important than ever before. With the arts being cut from our schools, it is so important for kids to have an outlet to be able to express themselves, because it’s not just about a performance. It’s about so many life skills that you gain along the way. Whether it be gaining confidence or just being able to be yourself, when kids are doing theatre, they can be free to be silly without the judgement that they may get in another setting.

Here at No Square, we strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where kids and adults alike can express themselves as individuals on and off the stage. While our shows are amazing, it is the friendships and special bonds of theatre that keep our No Square families coming back year after year.

What Drama Education Can Teach Your Child
By Kimberly Haynes

With the success of Hannah Montana and High School Musical, theater is suddenly hot. Your child may be showing interest in this year’s school play. But do you really want him to be an actor?

Gai Jones says, “Yes!” A theater educator with over forty years of experience, Jones' work has been recognized by the American Alliance for Theater and Education, the Educational Theater Association, and the California State Senate (among others).

According to Jones, “Theater addresses the skills which benefit children's education and development in five general areas: physical development/kinesthetic skills, artistic development /drama and theater skills, mental development/thinking skills, personal development/intra-personal skills, and social development/interpersonal skills.”

Immunization Requirements

No Square is dedicated to providing a safe and positive environment for our audiences, cast members and creative staff.  Part of that is requiring that all participants in auditions and programs are properly immunized.  Please read our policy on the matter, and refer to your health care provider or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for additional information.
